Biography
Jill graduated from the College of Holistic Medicine with a Diploma in Therapeutic Massage in 1997. The College takes a very holistic approach to its training and places a strong emphasis on being “present” in the hands. This means massage is not taught purely as a set of mechanical techniques, but as a sensitive and supporting form of hands on therapy.
Initially, she practiced massage on a part-time basis whilst maintaining a full-time career in IT. However, in December 2001, she decided to pursue massage on a full-time basis and worked at a number of clinics in Glasgow including Aveva Natural Remedies, Harvest Clinic, Willow Trading and Balance.
In 1996, Jill put her back out so badly she could barely walk. She tried various treatments to “fix it” and some of them helped in the short term. Unfortunately, no sooner had she got herself out of pain than she would go and do something that caused her back to go out again. These treatments were helping the symptoms she felt, but not the cause. It wasn’t until she tried the Egoscue Method of Postural Alignment in 1999 that she finally got to the root of the problem.
She was so impressed with the Egoscue Method that she went on to train as a Postural Alignment Specialist and, in 2003, became the first person in Scotland to qualify in the Egoscue Method. Since then she has gone on to study more about the causes of pain and techniques that can be used to resolve it. Through this advanced training, her postural work and working with hundreds of clients over the years, she, now specialises in treating musculoskeletal pain.
In 2007 she set up Intouch Advanced Therapies, originally based in Bearsden but now in Knightswood.
